Phases of the Moon: Oreo Style

Identifying cycles that reoccur in nature is a standard in our second grade curriculum. I really enjoy teaching Earth/Space science so I decided to introduce the phases of the moon.

Ask your student if they know what a new, first quarter, half or third quarter moon looks like.

They will tell you that they learned all this by using oreo cookies to demonstrate what we see in the night sky.

The kids had so much fun with this that I will be showing a small sampling of pictures at tonight's EXPO.

Hope to see you there!
